Why this company exists.
The data center constraint in Europe is not demand — it is power availability, industrial land, and permitting speed. Western hubs face moratoriums, grid queues and multi-year permitting timelines. Capital is moving to secondary markets with documented grid infrastructure.
Reșița has one of those infrastructure nodes: a 400/220/110 kV Transelectrica substation (650 MVA installed) upgraded in 2024–2025, with three 400 kV corridors and four EU PCI designations. What was missing was a local originator willing to spend 18 months bringing a site to institutional standard. That is the work Resita Data Infrastructure SRL was formed to complete.
How it started.
The initiative originated with the Municipality of Reșița. On 18 October 2024, Mayor Ioan Popa signed a Confidentiality Agreement with the founder to coordinate, document and promote a data center project on Reșița's behalf. In the 18 months since, the site was identified, the grid documented from public sources, and a Strategic Partnership Agreement signed with the Municipality on 27 March 2026. The company was formally registered on 7 April 2026. The Mayor's Office issued an Institutional Support Letter (Nr. 366/15.04.2026, signed by Mr. Ioan Popa on official letterhead).
What it is, and is not.
It is the coordinating entity for one site — a single-purpose Romanian SRL under EU jurisdiction, holding institutional relationships with the Municipality, Transelectrica, utility operators and prospective partners.
It is not a data center operator. No racks, whitespace, cooling or customer contracts exist.
It is not a multi-site platform. One project, one site, one Strategic Partnership Agreement.
It is not the owner of the land. Allocation proceeds by public tender under Romanian administrative law.

- Completed: Site identification, grid documentation, municipal partnership signed, company incorporated, Institutional Support Letter issued, LOI received, developer outreach active.
- In progress: Municipal land allocation procedure (HCL + ANEVAR + public tender). Zonal Urban Plan (PUZ) under elaboration.
- Pending — partner-led: Transelectrica ATR grid study (6–12 months). Building Permit (AC). Environmental Impact Assessment. Construction.
